When a primary flight display loses its information, the cockpit relies on redundancy to keep essential data visible. The way this is done is by routing the PFD data to an alternate screen, so you don’t lose attitude, airspeed, altitude, and flight cues. The panel that does this reversion is the MFD display reversionary panel. It specifically configures the MFD to present the PFD’s information so you can continue to monitor and fly the aircraft even with the PFD failed.

The other panels don’t perform this re-routing. The EICAS controls focus on engine and systems information, not the flight display reversion. The Display Control Panel handles general display settings but isn’t the mechanism to move PFD data to the MFD. The Source Selector Panel switches input sources, but the dedicated ability to re-display PFD data on the MFD comes from the MFD display reversionary panel.
